Ponca City’s varsity basketball teams placed two players on the Bruce Gray Invitational Tournament All-Tournament team.

In the boys’ portion of the tournament, Wildcat Luke Hollis was awarded All-Tournament honors. Emma Gertken of the Lady Cats also was named to the girls’ team.

The Bruce Gray Tournament was held last weekend on the campus of Deer Creek (Edmond) High School. In the boys portion, Ponca City lost its opener to Holland Hall of Tulsa, came back to defeat Heritage Hall of Oklahoma City in the second game, and then lost the fifthplace game to Oklahoma Big 7 Conference rival Midwest City. The Lady Cats won their opener over Stillwater, but then lost Friday to Holland Hall and Saturday to Owasso in the third-place game.

Games scheduled for Tuesday night at Guthrie were postponed due to weather and will be played on Feb. 9. Both teams are scheduled to travel to Putnam City West on Friday for games there. The next home games will be Jan. 31 against Enid. Those games will be the annual basketball Homecoming games.
