OKLAHOMA CITY-- Sophomore Christopher Kiser won the championship of his weight division in the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association Class 6A State Wrestling Tournament Saturday.

Kiser outwrestled senior Christian Forbes of Broken Arrow to win a 9-6 decision in the 106-pound championship match. Kiser also defeated Forbes in the title match in last week’s East Regional Tournament.

Ponca City sent eight wrestlers to the state meet. Besides Chris Kiser, two others earned medals. Cameron Kiser finished in third place at 120 pounds with a third period rideout over Shelton Chastain of Mustang. Gabriel Roland was fourth at 182 pounds.

As a team, the Wildcats finished eighth in the state meet. Justin Roland is the Wildcats’ head coach.
