Broken Arrow defeats baseball Wildcats

BROKEN ARROW -- After a pitchers’ dual between Broken Arrow and Ponca CIty Monday night the two teams met again Tuesday with Broken Arrow piling up a 10-0 victory.

Broken Arrow scored two runs in each the first and second innings and them scored six times in the fourth inning to easily win Tuesday’s game. Ponca City was outhit 14-2.

Colton Jones had both Wildcat hits. Aidan Howard started on the mound for Ponca City and worked three and one-third innings. Lance Arbona pitched the final two-thirds of an inning. Howard allowed 10 hits abd seveb earned runs, while Arbona gave up four hits and three earned runs.

Ponca City had two baserunners in the first inning. Grant Harmon led off with a walk and Jones followed with a single. Two fly ball outs and a ground out ended the Wildcat inning. Jones singled with two out in the third, but a ground ball out ended the Ponca City threat.

Walks to Hayden LeClair and AJ Landes with one out gave Ponca City another opportunity in the fifth. However a ground ball out and a strikeout ended the game.

With the loss Ponca City’s overall record is 6-19. Games against Edmond North Thursday and Putnam City West and Putnam City Original Friday are next on the schedule. They are a part of the NW Optimist Tournament in Putnam City.
