Blackwell wins 3A state wrestling

The Blackwell Maroons won the 10th State Wrestling Championship in school history over the weekend.

In Class 3A, the Maroons outpointed Marlow 158 to 109.5 to capture the title. It was the first state championship for Blackwell in 10 years.

Three Maroons won individual titles. Kaiden Ailey was champion at 126 pounds, Jake Miller at 132 pounds and Kruz Goff at 190.

Second place finishers included Jason Osgood at 175 and Kolby Looper at 215. Finishing third were Jaxon Brown at 106, Louden WOlfe at 113 and Grant Rowe at 144. Finishing in fourth place were Beau Murphy at 120.

Blackwell had 12 qualifiers for the state with 10 of the 12 finishing in the top four places.

Pawnee’s Grady Mittasch was the state individual winner at 138 pounds and Brady Oldfield of Newkirk finished four at 113.
