Two Ponca City basketball players were named to the Big Eight Conference second team in a vote of conference coaches.

Ashlynn Fincher was named All-Conference second team on the girls side while Grant Dye received a similar honor on the boys side.

Two others, Kyra Allison and Emma Gertken, were named girls honorable mention.

The conference includes Choctaw, Midwest City, Enid, Putnam City North, Putnam City West, Putnam City Original and Ponca City.

Commenting on the honors, boys Coach Ivan McFarlin said, “I am very proud of Grant and his contributions to the team this season. I think it speaks volumes about his hard work and effort!”

“Ashlynn is very deserving of this award. She has been a good player for us the last four years and we are grateful for her contributions. Emma and Kyra did a really good job for us. They both worked hard and made a big impact on the team. I am very excited to see how much each of them grow this offseason and into next year!” said head girls Coach Jody Fincher.
