Baseball Wildcats pick up easy wins

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Ponca City Wildcats swept a doubleheader Monday in convincing fashion, picking up a pair of 10-0 victories over U. S. Grant.

In the first game, the WIldcats scored four times in the first inning, three in the second and then three more in the third before the game ended in run-rule fashion.

Ponca City outhit U. S. Grant 4-0, with Grant Harmon earning two hits and Aidan Howard and Teegan Hodgson getting one apiece. One of Harmon’s hits was a double.

Corey Marazas pitched three innings for Ponca City allowing no hits and striking out six batters. He was the winning pitcher of record.

The Wildcats had 10 bases on balls during the threeinning game and U. S. Grant committed four errors.

In the second game, the Wildcats scored four runs in the first and six more in the second to end the game. Ponca City outhit U. S. Grant 2-0 with Howard and A. J. Landes getting the hits. Jackson Hunt was the pitcher for Ponca City and he struck out nine batters in three innings of work.

The two victories improves Ponca City’s record to 4-3 for the year. The Wildcats were scheduled to play a game Tuesday in Collinsville and then host a game Thursday against Perry.
