ENID -- In a Saturday game between two old rivals, the Enid Plainsmen came away with a 10-2 win over the Ponca City Wildcats.

Ponca City took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and an attempt to make it 2-0 was cut down on a play at the plate. Enid went on to score three runs in the bottom of the first and led the rest of the way. Ponca City scored one in the fourth, but Enid broke the game open with six in the bottom of the fourth and then added one in the fifth to secure a run-rule victory.

Hayden LeClair was the starting pitcher for the Wildcats. He pitched three complete innings and was relieved in the fourth by Jaxon Testa. LeClair allowed three hits and six runs. Texta gave up five hits and three earned runs.

Enid outhit the Wildcats 8-5. Titan Bute had two of the Ponca City hits with Grant Harmon, Teegan Hodgson and Aidan Howard each had one. Howard’s hit was a double.

In the Ponca City first inning Grant Harmon led off with a single. Colton Jones reached on a fielder’s choice, but Harmon was out trying to advance to third on the play. Brody Wicker walked and then Testa walked to load the bases. Hodgson singled to score Jones and Wicker was thrown out at the plate trying to score.

In Ponca City’s fourth inning, Bute singled with one out and scored on Howards two-out double.

The loss drops Ponca City’s record to 6-17. Games with Broken Arrow in Ponca City on Monday and in Broken Arrow on Tuesday were next on the Ponca City schedule.
