Area teams competing in basketball postseason

Area smaller school basketball teams are in the beginning stages of the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association playoffs.

In Classes A and B, the district tournaments were played last week, with some being eliminated and some moving on to this week’s regional tournaments.

Frontier’s boys and girls teams both were Class A district tournament winners and advance to the championship bracket of the regional tournament. The girls defeated Hominy 45-44 and will play Ripley at 6 p.m. Thursday on Frontier’s gym. The Fronter boys also defeated Hominy, 50-41, and will face Ripley at 7:30 Thursday on the Frontier gym.

Woodland’s boys team lost 61-54 to Oklahoma Bible Academy in the district tournament championship game. It will play Laverne in the consolation bracket of the regional at Cherokee at 3 p.m. Thursdsay. The Woodland girls lost in the opening round of the district and was eliminated.

In Class B, Shidler’s girls defeated Oilton, but then lost to Glencoe in the district tournament. They will play New Lima in the regional consolation bracket at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Glencoe. The boys lost to Glencoe in the opening round of the district and are eliminated.

Both boys and girls teams from Deer Creek-Lamont and Billings were eliminated in the Class B district.

The Class 3A district tournaments will be played this week. Newkirk’s boys and girls teams are scheduled to play at Alva Saturday. Win or lose they will advance to the regional tournament in Perry. The girls game is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m.

Blackwell’s boys and girls teams are scheduled to play at Chisholm on Saturday. Win or lose both teams will advance to the regional tournament in Chisholm.

In Class 2A, Tonkawa is scheduled to play at Pawhuska on Friday. The girls game will begin at 6 p.m. and the boys game at 7:30 p.m. Win or lose, both teams will advance to the regional at Enid.

Also in Class 2A, Pawnee will travel to Morrison for games Friday. The girls will begin at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m. Win or lose both will advance to the regional tournament in Preston.
