Sherry later attended Oklahoma State University where she received a BA in English in 1995. Sherry began working at Conoco Oil in Ponca City in 1976, where she made many life-long friends.

Sherry spent 15 years teaching English and Literature in Blackwell, Guthrie, Glencoe and Stillwater High Schools, before retiring in 2010. She loved baking for her friends, travel and was an avid reader. She had a passion for animals, arts and crafts, singing, playing guitar and piano, listening to music, and seeing new movies. Perhaps her greatest joy and role in life was that of mother and grandmother.

Sherry will be fondly remembered for her creative spirit, love of the arts, vivacious personality and devotion to her friends and family.
