Body

Robert Andrew “Andy” Wachtel, was born in Jerusalem on December 7, 1962. His favorite joke was that he was born in the same town as Jesus.

His father, Alex Wachtel, was a Jewish man who came to know the transforming love of Christ, and his mother Hallie Roberts, a kindhearted woman from Hominy, Oklahoma.

Andy went on to marry the love of his life, Pamela Sue Schmelzenbach, on December 31, 1982. They had two daughters together, Jennifer and Amanda, who helped create a family of love and laughter.

Following a long career in healthcare, Andy considered one of his greatest legacies to be the number of practical jokes played on his unsuspecting colleagues. He found purpose in helping others and encouraged all to remember the passion that drove them to want to make a difference, to love people, and to take care of their families.

Andy joined his Savior on March 4, 2020. Even when facing the end of his life, he knew the incomparable love and peace of God. Following his wishes, there will not be a public memorial service, but well-wishers are encour-aged to listen to acoustic guitar and drink a latte in his honor.

He leaves behind his wife of 37 years, two daughters only slightly scarred from a lifetime of bad dad jokes, two sons-in-law who helped equalize the guy-to-girl ratio, and his dog Marley (whom he loved the most).
