Molly Jane (Blew) Wright, 93, passed peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 26th, 2023, at Renaissance Assisted Living facility in Ponca City, OK. Molly was born November 28, 1930, in Red Rock, OK, at the farmhouse where she grew up. She was the youngest of six children. She graduated Red Rock High School where she met the love of her life, Johnnie M. Wright, whom she married on May 14, 1950. A celebration of life will be held at Woodlands Christian Church in Ponca City, OK, Saturday, January 20th, at 10am, with burial to follow.

Molly and Johnnie farmed for the first few years of their marriage until Johnnie took a job with Goodyear Tire in Ponca City. In the next few years, they transferred to Norman, OK, and lived there for over 60 years. Their son Rusty joined their family in January of 1958.

Molly started her career working at Exchange Bank in Perry before Johnnie came home from the war. Once they moved to Norman, she worked for an insurance company for many years before becoming the church secretary for First Christian Church in Norman, and later the wedding coordinator as well. This was a great combination for Molly, as she was very meticulous with her skills in organization. She worked at the church until she retired in 1999.

Molly was no stranger to opening up her home to others. She and Johnnie were parents to a large crowd of their younger friends and for their family members who were attending Oklahoma University. Molly made sure each niece and/or nephew were well taken care of with great home cooked meals and clean clothes. She had a love for gardening and could grow the best hydrangeas of anyone around. Molly was small in frame but mighty in personality. Her laugh was infectious, and her determination couldn’t be stopped. She fit the description of dynamite coming in small packages. She was a joy to be around, and she had a heart of gold. Molly and Johnnie enjoyed playing cards with their friends in Norman every Friday night where they switched off going to each other’s homes. She took her card playing quite serious, and she had to win at least one game before they quit. Molly loved spending time with family, friends and her church friends. She was a member of her church choir, where she enjoyed joking and playing pranks on the choir director, Steve. No one will ever forget her tenacity, wit, grace and undying love and care for others. Her presence will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Molly is survived by her four nephews and four nieces-- Mike Blew, Linda Applewhite, Valerie Spaak, Kristi Michener, Gary Butler, Dennis Butler, Dede Huggins, Brian Blew; two sisters-inlaw, Wilma (Willie) Foust of Ponca City and Don Freed of Claremore. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews on the Wright side of the family.

Molly was preceded in death by her loving husband, Johnnie, and her son, Rusty; her parents, Harry and Florence (Crane) Blew; two brothers, Bob Blew and wife Mildred, Jack Blew and wife Norma; and three sisters, Betty Alley and husband Jack, Marjorie Vannest and husband Neal, Wanda Butler and husband Dale; brother- and sisters-in-law and their spouses, Irvin and Mary Lee Wright, Mary Coffman and husband Albert, Othel Lynne (Bo) Haas-Goodwin; and nephews, Richard Vannest, Jay Dee Alley as well as several other nieces and nephews on the Wright side of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Norman First Christian Church, 220 S. Webster, Norman, OK, 73069; Woodlands Christian Church, 1400 East Hartford, Ponca City, OK, 74604; or Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview Avenue, Ponca City, OK 74601.
