Melburnia Mehojah, lovingly known as “Boots”, was born on February 15, 1941, in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She was the beloved daughter of her Milburn and Ida Dodson. She passed away on November 11, 2023, in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

Her life was filled with joy, creativity, and a deep appreciation for the arts. She had a passion for painting and spent countless hours creating beautiful works of art that captured the essence of the world around her. Music also held a special place in Melburnia’s heart, and she found comfort and inspiration in its melodies. She had an insatiable appetite for reading and could often be found lost in the pages of her favorite books. One of her greatest pleasures was indulging in the soothing brushstrokes of Bob Ross as she watched “The Joy of Painting.”

Her presence in the lives of those who knew her will forever be treasured. Her warm smile, kind heart, and gentle spirit touched the lives of everyone she met. She was a beacon of light during difficult times and offered unwavering support to those in need.

Melburnia married the love of her life, Ernest Ray Mehojah. They embarked on a journey together that spanned many joyful years until Ernest’s passing in 2012. Together they raised four wonderful children: Leonard Dale Mehojah, Emmett & Dolly Mehojah, Milburn Mehojah, Terry Ussery, and William & Tonya Mehojah.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ernest Ray Mehojah, son Leonard Dale Mehojah, sisters Roseanna Lee Johnston and Shirley Jean Gibson, as well as her grandchild Christopher Michael Byers.

Though Melburnia has left this earthly realm behind, her legacy lives on through her surviving family and friends. Her memory will be forever cherished by her surviving sons and daughters: Emmett & Dolly Mehojah, Milburn Mehojah, Terry Ussery, and William & Tonya Mehojah. She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren including Anson Mehojah, Lindsay Byers, Jimmy Lee Allison, Kendall Phelps, Matthew Mehojah, Zachery Bible, Ben Bible, Briana Mehojah, Aubrey Mehojah, and Tahagena Mehojah. Additionally, she was blessed with numerous great-grandchildren.

Melburnia’s impact reached far beyond her immediate family. She had a vast network of relatives and dear friends in both Oklahoma and Texas who all were touched by her kindness and love.
