Larry C. Wehrle, resident of Ponca City, passed away on May 20, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.

Dad was born on April 30, 1940 in Cowden, Illinois to Clifton & Pauline Wehrle. At a young age, he moved to Ponca City with his family. He graduated from PoHi in 1958. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1964. He proudly served our country for 3 years. While in the military, he met Billie Choate. They married on November 16, 1969. In 1971, they welcomed a daughter, Paula & in 1973, they welcomed another daughter, Keri.

Dad worked at ConocoPhillips for 15 years until his retirement in 1992.

In 1993, Dad became Poppy when granddaughters Jessica & Kristyn were born & again in 2000 when Katie was born.

In 2015, Poppy became Great when Ruby was born & again in 2022 when Zoey was born.

Dad loved to tinker in his shop. His greatest tinkering project was restoring his 1931 Chevy coupe. He enjoyed making windmills that he proudly displayed in the pasture for all to see & walking the sandbar on the Arkansas river.

Dad was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton & Pauline Wehrle, his brother, Merrill Wehrle, & his granddaughter, Katie Yerger.

Dad is survived by his wife of 54 years, Billie & his pal, Fritz, of the home; his children, Paula & Wayne Yerger of Stillwater; his daughter, Keri Wehrle of Ponca City; grandchildren, Jessica & Brian Holman of Garber; Kristyn Yerger & Christian Irving & great granddaughters Ruby & Zoey of Stillwater; sister & brother-in-law, Marie & David Topper of Stillwater.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma & McCord Volunteer Fire Department.
