Body

John Bolene, 71, of Oklahoma City, died June 11, 2023.

John Bolene was known for his infinite curiosity and scientific knowledge, aptitude with computers and technology, love of animals, handcrafted Belgian beer with homegrown hops, enjoyment of the latest science fiction tv show, captivation with roleplaying video games, and his multitude of hobbies. Every summer John would be busy growing and processing cayenne peppers into his own special hot sauce, at least when he wasn’t doing what he truly loved: flying his model rockets and planes with his friends under the (hopefully) clear blue sky.

John was truly fascinated by how everything worked and was driven to understand it himself. He was generous in using his time to explain to others what he had learned. He loved to talk about the latest scientific discovery with his loved ones and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by two children, grandchildren, and siblings, including Judy (JR) Weidner, Sally (Bobby) Wooten, Janice (Ben) Barth, and Dan (Lori) Bolene, as well as many nieces and nephews. Memorial donations can be sent to Tripoli OKC at 2401 Tee Circle, Suite 202 Norman, OK 73069.
