Jeffrey Olan Long of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away on February 27, 2022 in Ponca City. Jeff is survived by his wife of 51 years, Deborah Long, along with his children Carrie Rice (Kevin) of Springtown, Pennsylvania and Justin Long of Ponca City, Oklahoma.

Jeff was born March 21, 1950, in Newark, Ohio to parents Olan and Marcella Long, who precede him in death. Jeff graduated from Purdue University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering. He went on to a long career in the oil industry as a chemical engineer, working first for SOHIO (Standard Oil of Ohio), then BP, and he ultimately retired from Conoco Phillips. Even in retirement, Jeff continued to do freelance work as a chemical engineer.

In his free time, Jeff enjoyed section hiking the Appalachian Trail with his children, even hiking the northern terminus, Mount Katahdin. He also enjoyed sailing with his son Justin, to who’s care he devoted his time.

Jeff is also survived by his four siblings, Marsha Barlow of Florida, Patricia Pritchett of Ohio, Mike Long of Indiana, and Jim Long of Ohio.

Please remember Jeff as a hardworking man who was devoted to caring for his family and who loved to laugh.
