James “Jim” W. Ramsey went to his heavenly home on October 2, 2022. Jim always said, “If you’re not marrying or burying me, I’m Jim.” He will always be Jim to us! Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2022, at the Central Christian Church. Reverend Dennis Voth will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hope Cemetery. Friends may greet the family 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory.

Jim was born to William “Bill” Alvin and Neewannah “Nee” Lee (Schmidt) Ramsey on August 8, 1956 in Arkansas City. He attended the Arkansas City schools except the 2nd grade when the family was in Syracuse, KS. Jim graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1974. While in school he participated in football and baseball and was a part of the newspaper staff as well as being active in FFA.

Jim went on to Kansas State University graduating with honors in Agricultural Education. He was involved in the FarmHouse fraternity, earning the name “Burt”. Since graduating from KSU, his fraternity brothers still only know his name to be “Burt”.

The first year after college, Jim taught agriculture in Stafford, KS. Teaching was not meant to be for Jim as he soon went into ag lending with Production Credit. In 1984 he moved to Newkirk, OK. Jim became the ag lender for Eastman National Bank. He brought the bank into the technology age by adding various computer systems to the bank. All of the computer knowledge that he obtained and taught to others was selftaught. After seven years at Eastman, Jim moved on to Home Bank in Eureka, KS before ending his career with 20 years at the Bank of Commerce and Trust in Wellington, KS. Jim married Elizabeth “Liz” Parkison in Arkansas City, KS on July 9, 1988. She brought to the marriage twin girls which Jim simply loved and adored as his very own. A son was added to the family after moving to Eureka in 1992. Jim farmed the home place and other Ramsey family land alongside his dad until Bill’s passing in 2002. After that, Jim farmed the home quarter, with some assistance from his son, until he was unable. Jim called farming his sanctuary.

He was very active in any community that the family lived in. His children were active in school activities and Jim was proud to a part of it, either as coach or spectator.

Jim was a very loving and devoted husband, dad and papa. His grandchildren were very special to him and they all loved him so much.

Preceding him in death were his parents, sister-inlaw and husband, Karen and Ross Kail, brother-in-law, Bob Parkison, and brotherinlaw John Sandborn. Surviving to honor Jim are his wife of 34 years, Liz; Daughters: Heather (Shawn) Gamache of Eureka, KS and Jennifer (Jason) Ault of Wellington, KS; Son: William (Anna) Ramsey, of Humboldt, KS, grandchildren: Brenda Gamache, Denver Ault, Dakota Ault and Luke Ramsey; Sister, Joyce Ramsey of McAlester, OK and brother, Jeff (Nancy) Ramsey of Florence, MA along with numerous nieces, nephews and forever fraternity brothers.
