Jackie Everett Bohon, 88, of Ponca City, OK, was welcomed to his Eternal Home with Jesus, surrounded by his loving family, on March 21, 2024. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March, 26, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Carson Krittenbrink officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave. Ponca City, OK, 74601. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Jackie was born on January 24, 1936, in Severy, KS, to George Taylor and Leota Pearl (Toon) Bohon. He grew up and attended school in Burbank, OK, graduating in 1954. After graduation, he served in the US Army from October 1954 to October 1956. In 1961, Jackie began working for Evans & Throop Construction which later became Evans & Associates and he continued working for the company for over 42 years, rising to the level of Executive VP of Construction. Prior to retiring, he began raising cattle with his son, Jay, and continued to do so after his retirement from Evans & Associates in 2003.

On December 28, 1957, he married the love of his life, Zofia Barabasz in Ponca City. Jackie and Zofia recently celebrated their 66th Anniversary. Jackie was actively involved in the Ponca City Noon Lions and Burbank Alumni Association. After joining the church of St. Mary’s in 2006, he became an active member of Knights of Columbus.

Jackie enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially loved attending his grandchildren’s events and activities. Seeing his great-grandchildren always brought him such joy and happiness. Some of his favorite activities included woodworking, spending time with close friends and traveling. Jackie was always willing to help anyone in need and never missed an opportunity to make someone smile with his kind words.

Jackie is survived by: his wife of 66 years, Zofia, of the home; son, Jay Bohon and his wife, Beth, of Ponca City, OK; daughter, Renee Lanoue and her husband, Glenn, of Oklahoma City, OK; grandsons, JB Bohon and his wife, Keely, of Newkirk, OK, Evan Lanoue and his wife, Christine, of Plano, TX; granddaughters, Amanda Bohon Scheuring and her husband, John, of Dumas, TX; Elizabeth Harris and her husband, Connor, of Edmond, OK; greatgrandchildren, Cadence, Nora, Wyatt, Caden and Collins; brother-in-law, Gene Barabasz and his wife, Gail; brother-in-law, Steve and his wife Adonna; sisters-inlaw, Ramona Lindgren all of Ponca City, OK, and Sherry Barabasz of Moore, OK. He was preceded in death by: his parents, George and Leota Bohon; brothers, George Bohon, Hurley Bohon, Cecil Bohon, Donnie Bohon and sister, Shirley Mayfield.
