Edgar was born April 12, 1950, in Ponca City, OK to Edgar Dee and Louise Snyder. He graduated from Ponca City High School in 1968. He received an A.S. degree from Northern Oklahoma College in 1970, and a B.S. in biology from Oklahoma State University in 1974. He taught biology and chemistry in high schools in Westville, OK and Augusta, KS. He loved teaching, and remained a teacher at heart his entire life, even after he no longer did it as a career. In 1981, he went to work as an engineering tech for Phillips Petroleum in Shidler, OK. In 1986, he moved to Borger to work in the lab at Philtex, later moving to the Borger Refinery when the new lab opened there. He enjoyed working with his gas chromatographs in the GC Lab and continued there until his retirement from Phillips in 2019.

Edgar married Leigh Ann Hathaway in Borger, TX in 1989. They celebrated their 33rd anniversary in April 2022. They were the love of each other’s lives. They loved to travel, taking many trips to Colorado, New Mexico, and the national parks of the west. They also visited many European countries, as well as Hawaii, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. Two of their most memorable vacations were in France. In 2013, they began on the Normandy coast, and followed the route Edgar’s father took with the 2nd Armored Division in 1944 through France towards Belgium. In 2016, they took a trip with Michelin North America driving exotic cars across the south of France. He enjoyed the opportunity to drive many unusual cars such as a Lambo rghini, a Ferrari, and several Porsches as well as Mercedes-Benz and BMWs.

Edgar loved shooting guns and doing reloading. He was detail oriented and a meticulous technician, keeping detailed tables and records of his reloads. He was a Patriot Life Member Benefactor of the NRA.

Most of all, Edgar was a strong and committed Christian. He gave his life to the Lord as a boy, attending Community Christian Church in Ponca City. After he moved to Texas in 1986, he transferred his membership to First Christian Church of Fritch. He served as chairman of the church board there for many years, up until the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Louise Norman in 2021, his sister- in-law Betty Lickliter, his nephews Carl Dean Miller and John Paul Lickliter, and a great- great-niece, Courtney Nicole Miller.

He is survived by his wife Leigh Ann, his brother, Charles Lickliter of Ponca City, and by his sister and brother-in-law Beverly and Delbert Fair of Ponca City. He is also survived by his inlaws Harvey and Ann Hathaway of Borger, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Michael and Lesia Hathaway of Borger, and by numerous nephews and nieces.
