Dorothy Jean (Sisson) Reed, joined her husband of 67 years, J.P., in heaven on the evening of Dec. 24, 2023, just before midnight.

Dorothy was born to James and Opal Sisson on May 9, 1928 in their home in Wynona, Ok. She spent her first year of elementary school at the Naval Reserve Oil Camp just outside of Hominy, Ok. then attended Hominy schools, graduating from Hominy High School in 1945. She worked at Terrel’s Meat Market until moving to Ponca City.

Dorothy met J.P. Reed in Hominy and fell in love with her one-and-only. They held hands in church and were involved in various church activities. After J.P. returned from a tour of duty in Japan during WW ll, three days later they were married on Sept. 25, 1947 at the Assembly of God church in Ponca City. They had a story book marriage that lasted for 67 years until the death of J.P. To this union was born a daughter, Phyllis Jeanne and a son James Phillip.

She loved camping in their camper at various lakesides, she also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and working on her plastic canvas projects for those she loved. She enjoyed life and always had a bubbly and excited attitude. She never had a negative word to say about anyone.

Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, two brothers James Jr. and Raymond E. Sisson of Hominy, Ok, a grandson Daron Sears of Ponca City. To mourn her loss are her children, Phyllis Reed Sears and husband Garyon, Jim Reed and wife LaDonna, all of Ponca City. Grand daughter Michelle Blackstar and husband Sam, great-grand daughters Kristina Younger and husband Kameron, Mikayla Blackstar and fiancée Matthew Dahlen. Great-great grand daughters Winnie Beth Younger and Dorothy Jean Younger, all of Owasso, Ok.

She has found that peace that goes beyond all understanding. We will always love her and miss her. She was our rock and anchor.
