Connie Avery, 86, long time Ponca City businessman, died Tuesday, January 3, 2023, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Viewing will held Monday, January 9, 2023, from 9:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. at Trout Funeral Home in Ponca City. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 9, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Trout Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Michael Taylor officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Connie Mack Avery was born on February 26, 1936, in Lucien, Oklahoma to Joseph Mack Avery and Cecile McGlasson Avery. He married Mary Ann Wooden on August 26, 1956, and they made their home in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He worked for his brother, Noah (Manny) Avery in the painting and drywall industry, later becoming the owner and operator of Avery Painting and Drywall. Connie worked on many homes in the Northern Oklahoma and Southern Kansas area making many loyal customers.

Connie was known for his work ethic. He enjoyed gardening and watching his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. He also enjoyed watching OSU sports and OKC Thunder basketball.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; son, Greg Avery and wife, Betsy, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; son, Brad Avery and wife, Rhonda, of Edmond, Oklahoma; sisters, Jean Dwyre, Lorene Smith, and Bertha Staerkel; and brother, Donald Avery; four grandchildren, Brennan Avery, Brooke Avery, James Avery and Kate Avery. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Cecile Avery; daughter, Pamela Avery; brothers, Noah Avery, Earl Avery, Carl Avery, and Bobby Avery; sisters, Myrtle Covington, Edna Coombs, and Norma McMartin.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to Northern Oklahoma Humane Society, 900 W Prospect Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.
