Charles J. Swartz, 85, passed away on December 3, 2021. No services will be scheduled at this time.

Charles was a resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Ohio City, Colorado, and was currently residing in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Charles was born September 4, 1936 in Emporia, Kansas to Ethelyn Beswick and Joseph B Swartz. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Kansas State University in 1958 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Chemistry from Oklahoma State University in 1964. Charles married Sara A.

Charles married Sara A. Smith on January 25, 1959, in Topeka, Kansas. They had two sons, Joe Swartz of VA and Paul Swartz of NC.

Charles spent a post-doctoral year in the Chemistry Department of the University of Colorado, at Boulder, and retired in 1993 as a Research Scientist after twenty-eight years in the Research and Development Department of Conoco Inc. in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He is credited with several patents and refereed publications.

Charles was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, the B.P.O.E. and the Ohio City, CO Volunteer Fire Department.

Charles enjoyed outdoor activities and playing guitar and singing country music, including many of his own composition.
