Ponca City — Charles Emery Powers, 73, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Chuck, as all knew him by, was born in Rochester, Indiana on December 30, 1948, to Charles O. and Maxine (Smyth) Powers.

Chuck was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed shooting Cowboy Action. He participated in many activities with the Ponca City Rifle and Pistol Club. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed building firearms. After retiring from Conoco, he spent many hours in the shop working on firearms and working with his online store named Kaw Valley Mercantile.

He married Dorothy A. Powers on May 25, 1985, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They resided in Ponca City until 1996, when Conoco transferred them to Houston, Texas. After retiring, they moved to Colorado and then back to Ponca City.

Charles is survived by his sister Charlene Kochanowski of Rochester, Indiana, sister-in-law Julia Morris of Spring Hill, Florida, first wife Kathy Powers of Rochester, Indiana, sons Jason (Heather) Powers of Rochester, Indiana and Adam (Heather) Powers of Lincoln, Nebraska, nephews Clark (Fatima) Kroft of Indiana, Steve Morris of Georgia, nieces Teresa Riegle of Fisher, Indiana, Darla Kroft of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Gayle (Scott) Reed of Columbia City, Indiana, and Kristi (Troy) Mosac of Spring Hill, Florida. Five amazing granddaughters: Jessica, Samantha Powers of Rochester, Indiana, Kira (Branden) Johnson of Rochester, Indiana, Hailey (Kalen) Ward of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Taylor Powers of Lincoln, Nebraska. Two exuberant great grand-daughters Autumn and Ruby Johnson of Rochester, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy A. Powers, sister Mary Nelle Good and parents Charles and Maxine Powers.

At Chuck’s request, there will be no funeral service. There will be a short memorial at the Eddy New Home Cemetery September 3, 2022, at 10:00 am. A private family burial will take place following the memorial service. Dress is casual please.
