Memorial Day ceremonies are fast approaching, and volunteers are needed to help with several of the events for the day.

Firstly, volunteers are needed to help place flags on graves at the IOOF Cemetery on 1206 S. South Waverly Street at 8 am on Saturday, May 27.

Volunteers can contact Joe Glaser at 580-763-3907.

There will be two Memorial Day services held on Monday, May 29 in town to honor the fallen. The first of these ceremonies will be held at 10 am at the Resthaven Cemetary located at 1901 E. Hubbard Road; the second ceremony will be held at the IOOF at 11am.

Veteran volunteers for the color guard and the rifle squad are need for these ceremonies. Those veterans can likewise contact Joe Glaser with the above phone number.

The VFW and the Veterans Day Parade Commission are also asking for assistance in identifying graves of veterans with no identifying military markers.

Volunteers are also welcomed for the flag pickup that is done on the following Tuesday, May 30, at 8 am.

The ceremonies are open to the public and all are invited to join in honoring the fallen that served this country.
