A fatality collision occurred at approximately 11:09 am on US-77 at Home Road, approximately 4.25 miles north of Newkirk on Saturday, April 22.

A 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Robert Dowell, 31, of Newkirk was traveling northbound on US-77. A 2009 Dodge Journey driven by Tina Sindorf, 41, of Wichita, Kansas was traveling southbound. The Dodge Journey crossed left of center for an unknown reason and swerved right attempting to avoid the motorcycle. The motorcycle then struck the Journey on the driver’s side.

Sindorf was uninjured, as was her 11-year old passenger. Dowell was transported by Newkirk EMS to Alliance-Health in Ponca City. Dowell was pronounced deceased by medical professionals due to head, internal and external trunk, and leg injuries.

The cause of the collision is currently under investigation.
