The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) held a meeting on vaccine plan updates. Deputy Commissioner Keith Reed fielded questions from the media via zoom on Tuesday Jan. 19.

As of midnight on Jan. 19, 243,807 vaccines have been administered, of those 31,087 were second doses. 212,720 people have received the single dose.

Vaccine supply is expected to remain unchanged this week with 81,125 doses, and this inventory includes primary and secondary doses.

OSDH recommends that those that have received the first dose, get the second dose 21 days after for Pfizer and 28 days for Moderna. This timeline is flexible however and the second dose can be given after day 21 or 28.

The Vaccine Portal can be used to schedule second dose appointments and the Portal will ask what kind of dose you received, either Pfizer or Moderna. It is preferred that anyone getting a second dose, get their’s at the same location they received their first dose.

OSDH is expecting some changes during the Biden administration as there is new information coming every day.

“The best way to serve Oklahomans is to be flexible and agile and to adapt to change,” said Reed.

Currently, there are no lab confirmation of COVID-19 variants in Oklahoma.

As a reminder, appointment availability is dependent on vaccine supply.
