The Ponca City Board of Education held a special meeting on Monday, May 22 at noon.

Don Nuzum called the meeting to order.

The Board had several action items to discuss and approve. The following are each of those action items approved by the Board: - Change Order No. 1 to the Concert Hall Addition Project. This change order reflects the cost necessary to add a storm shelter with bathrooms to the Concert Hall project. It increases the GMP by $199,394, brining the new total GMP to $5,456,075.55. Theses cost increases are related to the need, by law, to incorporate a FEMA rated safe room. This change incorporates the above mentioned FEMA rated safe room to the Concert Hall, and two new bathrooms in the safe room.

- An agreement with Ponca City Broadband that will see Ponca City Broadband reroute the existing fiber optic circuits in the alley between Brookfield and Comanche. They will move the circuits from overhead lines to underground. The cost is not to exceed $45,000. Ponca City Broadband will provide all fiber, conduit, manpower, and miscellaneous materials.

- An agreement with Stolhand- Wells Group to remove and replace the 500-gallon storage tank in the mechanical room feeding the high school cafeteria. The total cost of the project will be $16,534.

- A grant agreement with Project Lead the Way, Inc. This is a grant award from Philips 66 for sixth and seventh grades at West Middle School. The project is offered to middle schools in Phillips 66 communities and allows students to be introduced to a variety of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) curriculum.

The award is $10,000 per year for two years. The grant covers core training costs, $750-$1,200, dependent upon course selection. The project participation fee is $950, and the cost of materials and supplies vary by the course selected. This is would be an elective rotation class for up to 180 sixth and seventh grade students.

Following approval of the main agenda items, the Board then voted to convene into executive session.
