Next, DaLana Hawkins presented the Po-Hi College Remediation Report. The report details percentages and comparable data from 2018 graduates. Po-Hi’s remediation percentages in Science and Math were below state averages, but the percentages in English and Reading were above state average in remediation.

Actions taken to improve Po-Hi academic success including Reading Plus, ACT prep, ACT boot camp and alignment of College/Career Readiness Standards to curriculum maps and instruction.

236 students have seen a 1.2% grade level increase in reading levels in the Reading Plus Program. The remediation data is also dependent on the college it comes from and what remediation courses they offer.

Superintendent Shelley Arrott shared her COVID-19 report with the board. The report showed an increase in new cases with the previous week of Nov. 2 to Nov. 6 seeing a positive case every day and in a 52 day overlook at the school year, 26 days with no positives, while the other 26 days have shown positives.

The Board discussed new business. Based on the number of isolations and quarantines at Po-Hi, Superintendent Arrott advised that the high school pivot towards distance learning from Nov. 11 to Nov. 24 for grades nine to twelve.

For extracurricular activities, the board collectively decided during that same period to allow competitive activities that were already scheduled. All off-season sports and all non-competitive activities will not meet for practice during the period of Nov. 11 to Nov. 24.
