Broken Heart Ministries is one of six churches in Ponca City that is on the National Registry of Historical Places. The church is located on south 12th street and has sat vacant for the past 12 years.

Pastor Roderick Lewis, brother of former Pastor Floyd Coburn, is leading the way to help restore this church. They have started the process with cleanup efforts and have now moved into phase two of the project and are working towards replacing the roof.

At this time, Pastor Lewis will be working with Superior Exterior Insurance Restoration LLC for the roof replacement. They are stepping in and going to begin the job very soon despite still being short on funds, but with fundraising efforts still in full swing. Thus far, the church has received help from several people in our community through fundraising efforts by Rikki’s Market where they raised $2,200.00 and through donations by pastor Lewis himself. The total amount they have raised is $7,000.00. They also had members from other churches in the area volunteer and assist with the cleanup efforts.

Broken Heart Ministries still lacks $13,000.00 for the replacement of the roof at the historical church. The total amount needed is $20,000.00 for the roof.

They will also be holding a community event on Sat., March 6 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Attucks park located at 1313 E. Dixie in Ponca City. At the event, Broken Heart Ministries church members will be giving away and accepting clothes, shoes and miscellaneous items. They will also be accepting cash donations at the event to go towards the funding of the roof replacement at the church. Free hot dogs, chips and drinks will be served to the public while supplies last.
