Local couple announces marriage

On August 7, 2021, Leslie Wilson, daughter of Doug and Terri Wilson of Ponca City, was married to Cory Waite, son of Laura and Richard Waite of Ponca City and Margaret and Tom Ratzlaff of Sand Springs. The ceremony took place at First Baptist Church in Ponca City and was officiated by Brent Wilson, brother of the bride.

The church was decorated with a wooden seven foot cross with a sheer cloth and greenery.

The bridesmaids and groomsmen entered on “Divine Romance” by Phil Wickham. The bride entered on “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri. “Goodness of God” by Bethel Music was sung by Sydney Karner, a vocalist from Oklahoma City, and Jacob Keffer, a guitarist from Ponca City, performed during the ceremony.

Maddie Wilson, cousin of the bride, attended the guest book.

Heidi Wilson, niece of the bride, and Addi Hammertzheim, niece of the groom, performed the duties of flower girl.

Matron of honor was Madison Wilson, sister-in-law to the bride, and the maid of honor was Sydney Karner. Bridesmaids included Becca Chupp, Blair Didlake, Chelsey Sindelar, Abby Migliore, Claire Zimmerman, Ashley WIlson, Madison Kurtz, and Amy Nicholas. They wore long v-necks of satin and gold, with earrings of gold and white handmade white marble by Julia Hiatt of Dallas, TX.

The bride wore a backless v-neck gown of satin lace with dainty straps and a single layer bean-lined waist long veil. She carried a bouquet made of a variety of light and deep pink and white flowers with flowing navy ribbons and pearl jewels. She was gifted something old, borrowed, and blue, in her great, great grandmother’s handkerchief which was also carried in sister-in-law’s wedding. It featured a blue ribbon and a piece of a wedding dress from her mother tied around it. The bride also had a new garter, wedding dress and earrings.

The groom was joined by best man Jake Didlake, and groomsmen Coleman Dunn, Chris Crain, Cole Nimmo, Jacob Harbeson, Luke WIlson, Brent Wilson, Brett Braden, Andy Ochoa, Cole HIbler, Kendall Waite, Michael Hammertzheim, and Skyler Edens.

Guests included the parents of the bride and groom, along with grandfather of the bride, Dick Wilson, and grandparents of the groom, Troy and Betty Waite and Elaine Nicholson. Also attending from out of town were Robert and Brenda Deering; Clay, Alicia, Jackson, Eli and Mia Wilson; Kyle and Nikki Wilson; Carrie Wakeman; DeAnna Berry; Joey Crisman; Rick and Melanie Karner; Leah and Drew Vinci; Rick and Becky Vanater; Darryl Gary; Glenis Thomas; Andrew McAllister; Michael, Daycen, Lydon, Addi, and Daycen Hommertzheim; Eric, Dakota, and Chelsea Ratzlaff; Robert, Ashley, Scott, Kayla, Heather, Kambi and Kate; Shirley, Tommy, Tracy and Olivia Ketchum; Aunt Janie McCarthy; and Evelyn Valadez.

The reception was held in a private hanger at the Ponca City Airport, and was hosted by Cheryl Snyder and Lindsay Hollis. Cake was served by Janice Inskeep and Cindy Johndrow. Lori Breeedlove catered the reception. The first dance was to the song “I Get to Love You” by Ruelle, sung by Sydney Karner with guitarist Jacob Keffer.

The reception consisted of a father/ daughter dance, mother/son dance, and bride/groom dance. There was lots of dancing throughout the evening and the DJ was Luke WIlson.

The reception area was filled with old fashion pop bottles with souvenir airplane bottle opener. Featured were a chocolate fountain table, a sweet/ candy table, a donut/cookie table, a groom cake and a four layer bride cake. A photo booth and cornhole area were outside for entertainment. At the end of the reception, bride and groom flew off in a private plane flown by Wayne Whittington.

The newlyweds spent their honeymoon at St. Lucia Sandals Resort. They will continue to live in Ponca City.
