The Ponca City Public Schools will be holding an informational meeting for parents of future Kindergarten students on April 20, 2023 from 5:30 to 6:00. The purpose of the meeting is to share tips and information that will help parents better prepare their child for a successful Kindergarten experience. The meeting will take place at the Washington PreK Center located at 1615 N. 7th Street. Parents are asked to enter the parking lot behind the school off Little Street through the double doors leading to the gym.

Kindergarten is required by the state of Oklahoma. In order to be eligible to attend Kindergarten the student must turn 5 on or before September 1st. All Kindergarten students will attend classes at the elementary school located within the school boundaries of his/her home address. If parents wish for their child to attend a school outside their school boundaries he/she must apply for an in-district transfer. The indistrict transfer window is currently open and will close May 1, 2023.

Registration for the upcoming school year will occur during the month of July. All students must be registered with the PCPS to attend school. The Registration center is located at 111 West Grand Ave. Up-to-date shot records are required. Please take advantage of the Kay County Health Department or your child’s physician to get your child’s required vaccinations. During July students can also be registered for the PCPS after school care program, Cat Care for the upcoming school year (space is limited).

We encourage you to attend the informational meeting to learn more about your child’s early childhood program and curriculum expectations. These meetings are designed to provide information to parents about how to prepare their child for their first academic experience.
