Janae Miller honored as January’s Healthcare Professional of the Month by the Community Health Foundation of Kay County

Janae Miller has been selected as the Community Health Foundation’s January Healthcare Professional of the Month. Janae is a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner at Kanza Health Clinic and was nominated by Samantha Goodno, Operational Director in Kay County for Grand Mental Health for Janae’s dedication to cancer prevention. Samantha said, “Janae works with uninsured or underinsured women to provide breast and cervical screenings at no cost to the patient. She avidly promotes screenings and works hard to get as many people seen as possible. Janae is also a mother of three children under the age of six which alone makes her a superwoman! Janae has such a calming personality which is an asset when you are working with patients who are already nervous about their screenings. Another wonderful attribute of Janae is that she doesn’t stop at the minimum of care, she fights for answers for her patients and doesn’t stop until she gets results.”

Janae Miller has worked at Kanza Health Clinic for three and a half years. She is the Nurse Practitioner for the Kaw Women’s Health Program. The program focuses on breast and cervical screenings and early detection for better health outcomes. Janae serves women at multiple different Indian Health Clinics, as well as women in the community who are in need of breast or cervical cancer screenings.

Janae grew up in Broken Arrow and obtained both her nursing and family nurse practitioner degrees from the University of Oklahoma. She worked as a nurse in the ICU at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa before becoming a nurse practitioner. Janae shared that she loves being a nurse practitioner because she loves to help people. She stated, “I love being in a position to make a difference in people’s lives. I enjoy listening to people and helping them meet their health goals. I am very passionate about health promotion, disease prevention, cancer screenings, and early detection.” Janae shared that the Kaw Women’s Health Program can help many women in the community to get their breast and cervical cancer screenings. She said that women do not have to be Native American to get help with these services. She encourages women who do not have health insurance in our area, to give the Kaw Women’s Health Program a call for more information to set up an appointment.

Janae is married to her high school sweetheart, Joel, and together they have three beautiful daughters, Briar (5), Mazie (3), and Josie (1). In her free time, Janae enjoys spending time with family, traveling, being outside, gardening, fishing, and hatching and raising baby chickens.

Congratulations to Janae Miller! If you are interested in nominating an outstanding healthcare professional in Kay County from any healthcare specialty, the Community Health Foundation would love to hear about your nominee. A nomination form is available on the Foundation website at chfkayco.com and each monthly winner will be awarded with $100 in Ponca City Chamber Bucks.
