Wendy Landes teaches Physical Science and Anatomy for Po-Hi, but she started with the district teaching PE at Trout Elementary. She also coaches for the district as the head cross country and high school girls golf coach, while also coaching freshman basketball team.

Landes is from Jay, Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Health and Sport Sciences.

“Teaching has always been a passion of mine,” said Landes. “I worked in the health field and found myself longing to educate so I was hired as the PE teacher for Trout Elementary and have progressed from there.”

Landes has lived in Ponca City for 15 years and has a 14-year old son, AJ, who is extremely active in all things.

Her favorite thing about teaching is seeing the understanding when students grasp concepts and she loves the team mentality.

“I love when you see the light bulb, when students make the connection. And I’m passionate about science and health, and want to give students the best opportunity they can have,” said Landes. “I love the team mentality at Ponca City. Everyone working together.”

Landes’ teaching style is laid back, but teaches lifelong lessons in her classroom.

“Teaching is so much more than the subject you have,” said Landes. “It’s about connection and relationships.”
