Michael Moorhead is a PE teacher at Woodlands Elementary. Moorhead grew up in Ponca City and graduated from Po-Hi in 1980. He lived in Newkirk since 1988 but has always worked in Ponca City.

"I decided in third grade in Mrs. Shafer's class at Jefferson Elementary, that being a physical education teacher was what I wanted to do," said Moorhead. "There is no other work that I enjoy like elementary PE."

There are many things that Moorhead loves about education, from the people he has been fortunate to teach with to being able to work in a positive environment doing his favorite thing: working with and encouraging children.

"My philosophy has always been to be a leader who leads by example. I want to encourage my students to pursue a healthy lifestyle that I have modeled and give the too ls to do so for themselves. Nothing lets me know I have succeeded like getting feedback from parents when their son or daughter has been going home and trying to duplicate activities in their backyard that they learned in gym," said Moorhead.
