SAVE THE DATE – The Ponca City Council of Garden Clubs is digging in the dirt again this year in preparation for their annual "Plant's For Pleasure” fundraiser - Saturday, May 1st on the patio of Cann Gardens. Plants will be available at 8 a.m. and will run until noon or sold out.

Anyone wishing to donate plants may drop them off during the week before the sale at the Muchmore home - 2 Hillcrest Drive across from Cann Gardens - leave on the West porch; or, Friday afternoon, April 30th, at Cann Gardens. Make sure they’re potted, tagged and noted - color, shade and/or sun.

For those interested in donating plants or letting gardeners dig, contact Carol Bouldin 716-2629 – clb1935@gmail.com, Janet Ray 716-0241 - jray617@ hotmail.com, or Sherry Muchmore 763-1562 - lilred@poncacity.net

Don’t miss out – these are “tried and true” Kay County grown; and, if you need help or information on planting, there will be Master Gardeners on hand to answer questions.

In an effort to discourage unauthorized commercial dumping, vehicles larger than a pickup or trailer will be charged standard landfill fees.

There is a limit of 6 loads per resident.

Loads are defined as: Pickup bed = 1 load

Pickup bed + single axle trailer = 2 loads

Pickup bed + double axle trailer = 3 loads

High Grass & Weeds

Grass and weeds that exceed 12 inches in height are defined by City codes as a public nuisance. Non-compliance by owners or residents can result in citations. The City also has the right to have the property cleaned; the expense is then billed to the owner.

Overhanging Limbs and Brush

All vegetation must be trimmed back to the right-of-way lines, such that free and convenient travel over and along the sidewalk and street or alley is possible. Vegetation shall be trimmed to provide vertical clearance of at least 14 feet above streets and alleys and to at least 8 feet above sidewalks. The City also has the right to have the right-of-way cleared and the expenses billed to the owner. Also, remember to follow rules regarding tree planting under power lines.

Nuisance Vehicles

Abandoned, junked, inoperable, or untagged vehicles are not allowed on private property unless they are enclosed in a building. Vehicles that violate these standards are public nuisances, and can be towed from the property by contractors at the request of Code Enforcement.
