The University Center Foundation is helping raise awareness and encourage members of the community to take the Covid-19 vaccine by selling buttons that citizens can wear proudly. The buttons show a syringe, with the catchy phrase, “Got My Shot!”

Each button will cost five dollars and proceeds will go to helping the UC Foundation, which aims to help those students attending classes through the University Center. The idea is intended to help raise public awareness and show off a person’s civic pride in doing their part in the current fight against the spread of Covid-19.

In a statement on last Friday, University Center at Ponca City CEO Adam Leaming urged community members, leaders and others to help encourage everyone to become vaccinated and help to end the pandemic.

“This project came about from some creative thinking from our current chair, Carol Bouldin, and a few other minds in our community. When they asked if they could help raise funds for the UC Foundation and help encourage individuals to take the vaccine, I was sold,” Leaming said.

“We’re hoping with a broader roll out of the vaccine that these buttons will help and work along the same lines as the ‘I voted’ stickers,” added Leaming.

The University Center at Ponca City has buttons available for purchase. Interested individuals can visit the UC anytime from 8 a.m.-8:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and on Fridays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. to purchase them in person.
