A fatality collision occurred on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 11:55 pm on I-35 northbound at mile marker 210, one mile south of Tonkawa.

This collision was a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. The vehicle, a 2019 International, was driven by Jimmy Roark, 57, of Webbers Falls, Oklahoma. Roark’s vehicle struck Leland Jackson, 59, of Kaufman, Texas. Roark was uninjured, but Jackson was pronounced deceased on the scene by Tonkawa Fire Department with head injuries. His body was transported by the medical examiner to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City.

The exact cause of the collision, as well as the conditions of both the driver and the pedestrian are under investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).

The report released by OHP cites that conditions on the road were clear and dry at the time of the accident.
