Evans Children’s Academy of Performing Arts announced that they are beginning their audition process for the classic, Snow White, soon! Open to ages 7 through 12, this audition will be held via Zoom on July 10 and 11. Those auditioning are asked to prepare a one to two minute song with an accompaniment track.

Snow White, originally published in 1812 by The Brothers Grimm, became a wellknown name in households across the world when Disney released Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937. This film was the debut of the very first Disney princess and in the wake of its massive popularity at the time, Disney became known for their fairytales and princesses.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is loosely based on the original fairytale by the Brothers Grim and follows a young girl who has garnered the wrath of an evil queen. When the wicked queen consults her magical mirror as to who is the “fairest in the land” and learns that it is her beautiful stepdaughter, she is furious. After enlisting the services of a woodsman to murder Snow White, the queen is once again livid when the woodsman helps Snow White escape instead.

Snow White, running for her life in the forest, comes across a cottage where seven dwarfs live. They warmly welcome her into their home and life is good for a while. Eventually though, the queen learns where Snow White has been hiding. The queen, disguising herself as an old hag, poisons Snow White with an apple. Heartbroken, the dwarfs build a glass coffin and stand guard over their friend’s body until a handsome prince finds her and restores her life with true love’s kiss.

Callbacks will be held on July 17 and those who are chosen will have rehearsals from Sunday trough Thursday from 6 to 8 pm. You can find the links for the form for contact information, sign up, and the Zoom link on the Evans Children’s Academy of Performing Arts Facebook Page.
