Local studio, The Doodle Academy, is constantly hosting exhibitions, art classes, fundraisers, and parties for the community. The Doodle Academy’s mission is to be a community resource for loving, learning, and teaching art in all its forms. By offering these events for the citizens of Ponca City, The Doodle Academy has more than fulfilled their mission. Between The Doodle Academy and The Pottery Place, owner Alena Jennings works to offer fun and creativity to not only the children in the community, but also adults.

The Doodle Academy opened their Nov. art exhibit on Fri., Nov. 25. Adrill Hayes and Sydney Lenox-Barkus shared their collections of beautiful art with the community. Because of her giving nature, Jennings donates a portion of the proceeds from the art exhibits to different organizations around Ponca City. This month’s exhibit is raising funds for the Community Health Foundation.

Jennings also hosts paint nights for adults. During this month, she had three different paint nights planned. On Nov. 18, they held the Edge Performing Arts Center Fundraiser, on Nov. 26 the Dollhouse Road Brewing Paint Night, and on Dec. 1 a Door Hanging Paint Party. At the Edge Performing Arts Center they painted an 11x14 canvas of a nutcracker, at the Dollhouse Road Brewing Paint Night, the class painted on 11x14 canvas of a gnome, and the Door Hanging Paint Party, being held on Dec. 1, the class is painting an 18 inch reindeer door hanger.

The next art exhibition, scheduled on Dec. 23, The Doodle Academy is hosting their Holiday Small Works show. The exhibition will focus on small works by local artists. Some of these have been seen in previous shows, but many others will be new. So, if you have missed any of the past year’s exhibitions this is the time to see some of what you might have missed.

Whether it is for your own personal galleries or for a gift for the upcoming holidays, The Doodle Academy is the place to visit. They offer gift certificates for art classes, on top of the art they have for sale. The studio is open Thurs. through Sun. from 1 pm to 6 pm and The Pottery Place is open every Sat. from 12 pm to 3 pm.
