The Kay County Treasurer would like to make the public aware that the treasurer’s office will be conducting the annual Tax Resale for the office of the County Treasurer on Monday, June 12th, 2023 at the KAY COUNTY ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, located at 219 S Main, Newkirk, beginning at 9:00am. The new Administration Building is located next to the current Kay County Courthouse that is under remodel. You should not enter the Courthouse in any way and come straight to the Administration Building. We will have signs that will help guide you to our new facility. This sale will be for property that is being sold for several years of delinquent tax as required by state statute Title 68 Section 3129.

There will be less space due to the change of location. It will be the responsibility of those who choose to attend to take precautions for COVID19 such as masks and distancing.

The property will be sold to the highest bidder for CASH ONLY. All property must be sold for the sum not less than two-thirds of the assessed value of such real estate or for the amount of tax, penalties, interest and cost due on such property, whichever is the lesser amount.

The property is transferred by Treasurer’s deed. The real estate is being sold in “as is” condition without any warranty, either expressed or implied, as to the nature, condition or description of the property. The treasurer’s office has done extensive research and notification of these properties and will provide information to perspective buyers. Buyers, however, shall rely entirely on their own information, judgment and inspection of the property and records.

A list of the available properties may be obtained online at kaycounty.org or a list may be purchased at the Treasurer’s office. This list will include addresses, or the approximate addresses, of vacant lots for these properties. After obtaining the list, persons interested in these properties may contact the Treasurer’s office for more information as to addresses or location of said properties. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 12:00 noon and 12:30 to 4:30 pm. The treasurer’s office phone number is 580-3622523 or you can reach Christy Kennedy by email at ckennedy@ courthouse.kay.ok.us or Rhonda Stephens by email at rstephens@courthouse.kay. ok.us.
