The Centenarians of Oklahoma visited Via Christie in the afternoon on Friday, Feb. 24 to celebrate two residents that turned 100 over the weekend. . From left to right: Ina Belle (Barker) Marshall, and Helen (Reese) Head.

Ina Belle (Barker) Marshall was born on Feb. 25, 1923. She is a lifelong Methodist that volunteered at the Thrift Shop in Grove and at hospitals in Grove and Ponca City. She has traveled extensively and loves family gatherings, bridge, crafts, sewing and needlework, reading, ice cream, pie and skillet fried chicken. She is the 2822nd inductee.

Helen (Reese) Head was born on Feb. 28, 1923. She was an English teacher and head librarian of Shidler High School for 37 years. She mentored young and struggling readers, and was honored as “Friend of Education” by Ponca City Public Schools (PCPS). Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving for cooking and time with family. Her favorite meal was desert. She is the 2824th inductee.

Both were presented with plaques as well as “Golden Okie” pins by the Centenarians of Oklahoma.
