Broken Arrow tames Lady Cats
BROKEN ARROW-- A big rally by the Broken Arrow Lady Tigers in the sixth inning turned a close contest into a rout Monday night. Broken Arrow scored six runs in the sixth to defeat the Ponca City Lady Cats 9-1 in softball action.
Broken Arrow scored two runs in the first inning, but then didn’t score again until the fifth when it added a run. Ponca City had narrowed the BA lead to 2-1 in the top of the fifth.
The Lady Tigers outhit Ponca city 13-3. Madeline Blackstar, Brianna Meyer and Taylor McMartin had the Lady Cats’ hits, all singles.
Meyer pitched five and one-third innings for Ponca City. She gave up nine hits and four earned runs while striking out one and walking two. Savannah Clark pitched the final two-thirds of an inning. She allowed four hits and three earned runs.
In the one-run fifth inning, Meyer led off with a single. Taylor Rahlf was inserted as a courtesy runner for Meyer. Adisyn Ivers moved Rahlf to second with a sacrifice bunt. McMartin singled to move Rahlf to third and then a passed ball allowed the Lady Cat run to score.
Ponca City is scheduled to be back on the road Thursday with a game at Norman North.
