Book sale discussed at NOC regents meeting

The Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa Library Renovation project continues and the college is preparing for the NOC Book Sale, President Dr. Clark Harris reported to the board of regents Wednesday. The NOC Book Sale, set for Aug. 4-7 in the Foster-Piper Fieldhouse, will allow community members to purchase books that have been removed from the NOC library collection.

The library renovation will transform the current library into the Pickens Learning Commons for this fall.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Diana Watkins and Vice President for Student Affairs Jason Johnson reported that seven NOC athletic teams earned NJCAA Academic All-American Team status with each earning at least a 3.0 GPA.Thirty-three NOC athletes earned a 4.0 GPA.

Johnson added that the NOC Women’s Soccer team finished second academically in the nation with an overall average GPA of 3.61.The winner earned a 3.62 GPA.

Vice President for Financial Affairs Anita Simpson provided the monthly financial report including project allocations and purchases.She also provided a status report on the HEERF (COVID-19) fund allocations.

Sheri Snyder, Vice President for Community Relations & Development, announced the Country and Western Group “Shenandoah” will appear Sept. 29 in the Renfro Lectureship Series at NOC Tonkawa’s Kinzer Performing Arts Center.

Vice President for Enrollment Management Dr. Rick Edgington reported that enrollment is progressing for Fall 2022 announcing a number of targeted enrollment dates for late July and August as NOC prepares for the Aug. 22 start of the fall semester. He also shared that NOC had increased enrollment for summer semester over last summer’s enrollment.

The board appointed chairman Jami Groendyke and Brad Fox as Group One Trustees to the Northern Oklahoma College Foundation and reappointed Lyndee Funk and Tom Poole as Community Trustees to the foundation.

Regents also approved the Course Catalog and Student Handbook.They were also provided information on the Graphic Standards Guide, Information Technology Plan, FY2022-23 Academic Plan, and the Strategic Plan Quarterly Update.

The September regents meeting will be held in the Brown Conference Room in Stillwater Sept. 14 at 1 p.m.
