Ponca City, OK ----- The Pioneer Technology Center (PTC) Children’s Lab has once again received accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) program. Oklahoma has only 53 early childhood programs that boast this accomplishment. This honor signifies high standards of early childhood education for the Children’s Lab. For nearly 90 years, NAEYC has worked to raise the quality of programs for all children from birth through age eight. A major part of the association’s efforts is to improve early childhood education through different systems of accreditation for programs that are committed to meeting national standards of quality.

I’d like to share a story. My paternal grandparents loved to go out for Chinese food and their favorite place to eat at as a Chinese restaurant that used to be over by Midwest Music in Enid that I believe at the time was called The China Wok (if anyone recalled the name of the place, it would’ve been around in the late 90s/early 2000s).

Freaky Friday: The Musical, based on beloved 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney film starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, is taking the stage for the second time at the Poncan Theatre. Evans Children’s Academy has worked tirelessly to make this production a night of great entertainment for the people of Ponca City and the surrounding area.

Most of us know we probably need to cut back on the added sugars we consume, but how do you do that when you have a craving for something sweet? These days, the average American eats an estimated 17 teaspoons of added sugar each day. A study in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health states that added sugar consumption worldwide is at a “pandemic” stage.

The Ponca City Federated Music Club (PCFMC) is very pleased to present the OSU Horn Choir on Sunday, January 22 at 2 p.m in the Concert Hall at Ponca City High School. The concert is free and open to the public. This outstanding group performed for the Music Club in 2019 with attendance of over 300 for the concert.

We’ve noticed an indent in our son’s chest since he was about 6 years old. Our pediatrician diagnosed this as pectus excavatum but said that it was nothing to worry about.

Last week, I provided an overview of the history of tokusatsu, an umbrella term for a variety of live action special effects movies and television programs from Japan. One of the key series I mentioned in that summary was Ultraman, a giant superhero that fights equally gargantuan monsters.
