Oklahoma Federation of Music Clubs presents a Fan-Tastic concert

The Oklahoma Federation of Music Clubs invites the public to a Fan-tastic concert at the PoHi concert Hall on Friday, June 23 at 7:30 p.m. This is a free concert. This article features the 3 soloists and the Forever Plaid quartet.

Nikolas Hoecker graduated from PoHi in 2021 and has been a music major at Northern Oklahoma College. He participates in Choir, Madrigal Singers and Roustabouts. He has participated in 3 musicals at NOC as well as several Evans Children’s Theater productions. He is a frequent soloist in choir concerts.

Brandon Haynes is an Adjunct Voice Faculty/Staff at Northern Oklahoma College, He is the Roustabouts Vocal Director, He sings in the Choir and Madrigal Singers. He is the Artistic Director for Choral Arts Society

of Northern Oklahoma (CASONO). He also is the Music Director at the First United Methodist Church, Tonkawa. On weekends, he performs at TS Forks in Tonkawa. His band has frequently performed at the Full Moon Concerts in Tonkawa.

Kayden Jalali is a protégé of Mike Seals. He is a high school senior in Wichita. Kayden has only been studying piano for three years but plays like a professional musician.

The Forever Plaid Quartet consists of Edward Dixon, Chad Anderson, Ryan Smykil and Chris Schelp. They will be singing three songs from Forever Plaid: “Three Coins in the Fountain,” “Sixteen tons/Chain Gang,” “Love is a Many Splendored Thing.”

Dr. Edward Dixon is Fine Arts Division Chair and faculty member at Northern Oklahoma College. He also directs the NOC Band. He also directs the Evans Children’s Music Theater and frequently appears in the plays with the students as well as in NOC musicals. He is a brass player and frequently plays tuba in concerts. He is currently directing Newsies at the Evans Children’s Theater Chad Anderson is Director of Music Theater at Northern Oklahoma College. He has directed Musicals in various venues including Sooner Theatre, Oklahoma City Theatre Company, Giving Tree Theatre, Ponca Playhouse. He belongs to Oklahoma City Philharmonic Pops Chorale and is a frequent performer with the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma.

Chris Schelp is Director of MusicatFirstLutheranChurch, Ponca City. He is the organist and choir director. He has sung with the Tulsa Opera chorus for several operas, including Cinderella. Chris has appeared in many Play House prod uctions including Sound of Music (Captain Van Trapp) and Music Man (Professor Hill).

Ryan Smykil is a seasoned actor. Favorite roles include Joseph in Joseph and the Techn icolor Dream Coat, Chris in Miss Saigon, Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast and Fagan in Oliver (Evan’s Children’s production) and Pioneer Women (MC, Wild Will, Union Officer.
