Hospice of North Central Oklahoma is celebrating two amazing employees who have given many years of service to the mission of hospice. Mary Meyers started working at Hospice of North Central Oklahoma on February 18, 2008 and recently celebrated 15 years. She was hired on as a Medical Biller but as Mary proved her hard work ethic and attention to detail additional responsibilities were given to her such as completing EMR conversions, of which she has done 4 in her time at hospice. She also took on the task of facilitating the IT/Computer needs as they are constantly changing with destops, laptops and IPADs. In addition, she was given the role of Privacy and Security Officer. In 2018, she was promoted to Chief Business Officer all while continuing to serve as Privacy/Security Officer and IT/Computer tasks. Wendy Stobbe, CEO of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma states, “Mary is an expert on billing, Medicare and hospice regulations. She has one of the hardest working persons I have ever worked with and she cares about the work she does.” When asked what her favorite part of her job is, Meyers replied, “Working with a wonderful staff. This is the most loving and compassionate group of people. I am proud of our mission and those who work with these families every day.” Meyers also states, “I have a lot of memories. I have worked with a lot of different personalities and have loved them all.”

Sharyn Cowan celebrated 20 years of working for HNCO on February 10th. She started as a Certified Nursing Aide. Over the years, she was asked to take on the role of Coordinator and ordering medical and patient supplies. Cowan has cared for thousands of patients providing them with personal care, such as bathing, grooming and dressing. She also helps with mobility and ambulation as well as educating the family on safe ways to move the patient. Cowan states, “My favorite part of the job is spending time with patients and their families. I know when I leave a home or facility that I have done everything I could for them. I take my time and make sure to listen to what they are saying and needing.” When asked about one of her most memorable moments, she states, “I was able to help a patient watch his daughter get pinned for her RN degree and also take her down the aisle for her wedding before he passed. We find ourselves bonding with our patients and their families like we belong there.” Stobbe states, “Sharyn is always willing to help her coworkers in any way. Her patients know her by name and we have received countless thank you cards naming Sharyn for all she does for the patients and to help the caregivers.”
