Tales from the Trails

Body
Shut Out Have I ever felt shut out? Have I searched for answers but could not find them? Have I ached for peace, but it eluded me? Have I reached for joy yet it slipped away like grasping for the wind? What about love, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, self-control, or faithfulness? 1 Corinthians 1:20: For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. Upon entering the chicken coop to find an after hours laid egg to feed our puppy for a bedtime snack, I was thoroughly frustrated! It was well into the darkness of the night, and the wind had been unusually strong through the day and blown the door to the chicken roost shut.

Dear Annie

Body
Dear Annie: I have been dating my boyfriend for four years and am very lucky to call him mine. He loves me well, gets along with everyone he meets and is very giving. His mother, on the other hand, is a taker, financially and emotionally. She hates her job and where she lives but is not willing to make a change. She relies on her two sons emotionally, calling them multiple times a week to complain about her job and life in her town. Family vacations are a drag due to the conversation being dominated by her constant discussion of her weight or fancy dinners she suggests but never picks up the tab for.

Dear Annie

Body
Dear Annie: I have a son who’s going to be 3 in August. He’s been going through the “Terrible Twos,” and as you can imagine, it’s been terrible. His thing right now is that he will throw a fit, and then when he’s done, he will wrap his arms around me and say, “I love you, Mommy!”
