Neil Ronald Martin passed away February 4th in Broken Arrow. He was born June 2nd, 1936 in Kansas City, Mo. to Guy and Bess Martin.

Neil graduated from Ponca City High School in 1953. In 1954 he did a 2 year tour of duty in Germany and Italy with the 5th Armor Division of the Army.

He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. Neil also attended Law school.

Neil married Margaret Charlene Johnson in 1957 and worked for Continental Pipeline as the supervisor of the Right of Way and Claims Dept. until 1969.

They lived in Tonkawa for over 30 years. He farmed along side his father in and around the Ponca City area for many years. Neil served as a city councilman from 1973-1975. Neil and Charlene built and ran the “Quickee” convenience store in Tonkawa. Neil also developed the Carrousel North subdivision. Later, he started and ran Holiday Lighting with his sons.

Neil and Charlene retired to Costa Rica for 15 years where Neil became an avid writer publishing several books. He loved boating, fishing, traveling and large dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, an infant son, and his wife Charlene who passed in 2022.

He will be missed by his 3 children; Travis, Rachael and Eric, 2 grandsons and 5 grandchildren.

Neil and Charlene’s final resting place will be at Resthaven in Ponca City.
