Oct. 28—Oklahoma finally found itself in a hole it couldn’t dig itself out of.

Dear Annie: My husband and I grew up in large extended families, and we are delighted that our son’s daughter gets to do that too, on her mother’s side. That we don’t see her much on the holidays isn’t important. What’s important is that she is surrounded by a loving family of many aunts, uncles, cousins and second cousins. When “Soon-To-Be-Grandma’s” grandchild is born, there will be lots of opportunities to help out. You were spot on to tell her that the question isn’t how can her son pay more attention to her, but how can she be helpful to her son. I wish her all joy during the times she is with her son and her future grandchild and hope she doesn’t have resentment during the times she is not with them. -- Grandma Already Dear Grandma: You are very kind to wish her all the joy that she will experience as a grandmother.

The Newkirk Tigers registered their first victory of the year in a big way Friday as they topped Kay County rival Blackwell 34-6. Meanwhile, the Woodland Cougars came up just a little short in their showdown with unbeaten Hominy, losing 23-20. Other area small school results included Tonkawa defeating Chelsea 34-0, Morrison defeating Chouteau-Mazie 36-20, Pawnee trouncing Oklahoma Union 62-7 and Waynoka defeating Deer Creek-Lamont 56-38.

Oct. 26, 2023 Suspicious Person/Vehicle At 1:23 am, the reporting party requested an officer in reference to a gold Honda Odyssey with no tags at OnCue on 1613 W. South Avenue. Subject in the van wore a Halloween mask. The reporting party thought this was suspicious.

Oct. 29—Trotting onto the western side of the field at Boone Pickens Stadium, Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon II only needed 4 more yards.

Attorneys for Donald Trump will be in court this week to defend against two separate cases that aim to stop the former president from appearing on primary ballots in Colorado and Minnesota. The lawsuits, which could wind up at the U.S.

The good news for Republicans is they finally elected a new speaker of the House, Mike Johnson. The bad news for Republicans is the “objective” media exist to create bad news for Republicans.

While I was familiarizing myself with Mike Johnson of Louisiana, our new speaker of the House, news arrived of a uniquely American event, another mass shooting, this time in a bowling alley and bar in Lewiston, Maine.
