Susan Jane Wilson, 69, completed her journey in life on October 28th, 2023 surrounded by loved ones at her home in Yukon, Oklahoma.

Suzy was born on the very first day of 1954 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Jim and Betty Stingley. The New Year baby was welcomed by her siblings, Joy and Jimmy. She grew up on south Palm St. surrounded by family, friends and her little dog Tina. Her young life was heavily influenced by her parents strong work ethic and mothers ability to make wonderful home cooked meals. In 1970, Suzy’s dad rebuilt her a 1955 fire engine red Chevy Bel Air for her sixteenth birthday. She was known to drag Grand, making pit stops at the A&W. She also took her first job on Grand in the ticket office at the Poncan Theatre. She graduated high school from Po-Hi in 1972 and later on went to work for the Ponca City News, Ponca City Hospital, Evans and Associates, Elite Laundry and Cleaners, Dr. Mark Palmer’s Office and Mercy Hospital.

In 1975, she married Paul Scott Wilson at the First Presbyterian Church. After starting their lives together, they welcomed two daughters, Keri and Erin. They raised their daughters around family and friends out in Osage county. Suzy enjoyed spending time at her parents farm, entertaining during holidays, cross stitching, collecting Longaberger baskets and doing genealogy.

Scott and Suzy also owned and operated Elite Laundry and Cleaners and South Avenue Express. While in business, Suzy treated her employees and customers like family. Her kindness and giving heart was cherished by many, providing anything she could to those in need. In 2005, Scott and Suzy chose to close their business and move closer to their daughters and hospitals. Suzy went on to work for Mercy Hospital for 16 years, until 2020.

Suzy loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She enjoyed having them spend the night, feeding them home cooked meals, teaching them to cross stitch, sew and bake. She also became a common spectator at her grandson’s tennis matches.

Suzy was considered a miracle by many. Her faith, strength and ability to overcome the most devastating diagnosis shocked and mystified the medical community. Her cancer journey began in 1994 when she developed inoperable lung cancer. She was given a 5% chance of survival. She made the decision to move to Oklahoma City for nearly 8 months of inpatient chemo and radiation. She was offered a trial treatment that eventually saved her life until 2016 when she developed her second cancer, triple negative breast and once again successfully completed treatment and went into remission. In 2021 she experienced a devastating widowmaker heart attack and during that time, they discovered her third and final cancer. This cancer attacked her lung, liver and fractured her spine. She spent nearly two years flying back and forth with her daughters to MD Anderson, once again fighting this horrific disease until she could no more. Her ability to survive the last 29 years was miraculous by itself. To say she will be missed is an understatement. We are absolutely devastated by her departure, but rejoice that her battle is finished and the pain is no more.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents James and Betty Stingley, sister Joyce Marie, brother James David, maternal grandparents Doc & Dora Little, paternal grandparents Virgil & Ethel Stingley and many dear aunts, uncles and cousins. Susan is survived by her husband of 48 years, Scott of Yukon, daughter Keri and son-inlaw Ken Langert of Yukon, daughter Erin and son-in-law Chris Coats of Yukon. Five grandchildren, Anna Langert of Stillwater, Payton Coats of Norman, Laura Langert, Isaac Coats and Lydia Langert all of Yukon.

A graveside service will be performed at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City on November 9th at 1:00pm, following will be a Celebration of Life at the Marland Mansion. We encourage all friends and families to join us for both.
