On Tuesday April 20, 2021, Ronald J. Carlson Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Collierville, TN. He was preceded in death by his brother Rich, grandson Brennan Tucker, and parents John H. and Anna M. Carlson.

TONKAWA, OK — The organizers of the Tonkawa Film Festival are excited to announce a special screening, Friday May 21st at 9PM, of the film ‘We Are What We Are’ directed by Jim Mickle (Hap & Leonard, Cold in July, In The Shadow of the Moon) starring Bill Sage (American Psycho, Precious, Wrong Turn, The Pale Door), Ambyr Childers (The Master, All My Children, Ray Donovan) and Julia Garner (Ozark, The Assistant, Waco). This dark thriller introduces us to the Parkers, a reclusive family who follow ancient customs, who find their secret existence threatened as a torrential downpour moves into their area, forcing daughters Iris (Childers) and Rose (Garner) to assume responsibilities beyond those of a typical family.
Inflation and Stagflation -- the Great Instructors

Stagflation, which reigned during the presidency of Jimmy Carter, occurs during an unusual confluence of events: high inflation, low economic growth and high unemployment. Normally, high inflation happens during periods of rapid economic expansion and low unemployment. On the opposite side, low economic growth and high unemployment normally occur during periods of low inflation. Stagflation, which combines the worst of everything, is particularly hard on the middle and lower classes, whose members face both high unemployment and rapidly rising prices for goods and services. In addition, the lack of jobs often leads to despondency among those unable to find work.

NOC graduation to be held on Saturday, May 1st

Northern Oklahoma College will be hosting their in-person graduation ceremony for their 115th NOC Commencement on Saturday, May 1st, at both the NOC Tonkawa and NOC Enid campuses. Both campuses will be in compliance with the CDC’s mask and social distancing requirements.
